Event Promotion Tips

The recession is affecting everyone and non-profits across the country are being hit hard, The Center wants to do everything we can to help your organization be successful.
Here are some tips and tricks -
 1. Before you schedule your event, check our calendar on-line and see make sure your event is scheduled to maximize attendance and participation.

 2. Send out a 'Save the Date" announcement

 3. Send your event info at least 2 weeks in advance to our email.

 4. When you promote your event consider the following -
     • Send a press release at least 3 weeks prior to your event.
     • Send a follow up press release the week before your event, this gives you an opportunity to update or supply additional info.
     • Day/time – put in the subject line to help people prioritize
     • Sponsoring organization or benefit details
     • Cost to attend (how to pay for tickets, on line, at door… etc)
     • Event Location (include zip code, this helps GPS dependent folks, and parking tips and don't forget to consider parking when you chose your site too)
     • Contact for event or a website that they can link to for more details

ADDITIONAL TIPS

     • If you primarily use Facebook to promote events, then consider 'friending' some of the press groups or reporters that you hope to see covering it.
     • Update your Keywords on your website, so that internet searches will find your site first.
     • Set up a Promotion file – rate cards for print publications, print deadlines, media contact list, bloggers who can help, ask others to donate their status for the event.

Good luck!
