Event Promotion Tips
Here are some tips and tricks -
1. Before you schedule your event, check our calendar on-line and see make sure your event is scheduled to maximize attendance and participation.
2. Send out a 'Save the Date" announcement
3. Send your event info at least 2 weeks in advance to our email.
4. When you promote your event consider the following -
Send a press release at least 3 weeks prior to your event.
Send a follow up press release the week before your event, this gives you an opportunity to update or supply additional info.
Day/time put in the subject line to help people prioritize
Sponsoring organization or benefit details
Cost to attend (how to pay for tickets, on line, at door
etc)
Event Location (include zip code, this helps GPS dependent folks, and parking tips and don't forget to consider parking when you chose your site too)
Contact for event or a website that they can link to for more details
ADDITIONAL TIPS
If you primarily use Facebook to promote events, then consider 'friending' some of the press groups or reporters that you hope to see covering it.
Update your Keywords on your website, so that internet searches will find your site first.
Set up a Promotion file rate cards for print publications, print deadlines, media contact list, bloggers who can help, ask others to donate their status for the event.
